Legacy Fans Attending the Boys' Basketball Tournament Game:
Wednesday's State Tournament game is a Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) officially-sponsored event. The MSHSL rules and expectations are equal to or higher than Legacy expectations when it comes to some of the following.
Questions or clarifications should be directed to Mr. Davis (Assistant Athletic Director and Legacy's on-site administrative representative for Wednesday night's game).
These expectations are provided here (in summary form)
directly from the MSHSL and were suggested by Minnesota high school students like yourselves. Items of special focus are in red:
- Respect the American flag and the National Anthem. Stand at attention and do not participate in distracting behaviors during the Anthem.
- Clothing must cover the entire torso. No clothing may be worn that either school- or Tournament personnel determines to be offensive or vulgar. Legacy dress code applies when it comes to leggings, jeans, etc. for both genders. Hats may be worn as long as other dress code violations (language, etc.) are not introduced by wearing them.
- No profanity, no negative chants, no booing, no trash talk, no name-calling, no personal attacks, and no other disrespectful behavior as determined by school- or Tournament personnel.
- Respect the game and the contest. Do not interfere with the contest in any way, and do not enter the court at any time during the game (including afterward).
- Handheld signs cannot be larger than 18x24" and they cannot obstruct the view of others. No signs or messages may be displayed that school- or Tournament personnel determine to be disrespectful or offensive.
- No signs on sticks, no balloons, no artificial celebratory items (confetti, etc.)
- No artificial noisemakers, no megaphones, no cowbells, no sirens, no whistles, no thundersticks, no laser pointers.
- If you choose not to follow the guidelines, you will be asked to leave the Tournament venue and no refund will be offered.
- THANK YOU for supporting your student-athletes and fine arts participants and for providing a positive environment in which educational activities are conducted.
In addition to the MSHSL items, Mayo High School is providing and requesting the following site-specific items:
- Spectators may park in the south or north parking lots and enter through Door 1B, identified as the "Auditorium and Gym Entrance" at the flag pole on the west side of the building adjacent to 11th Avenue SE. Doors will open 35 minutes prior to tipoff.
- Masks MUST BE WORN while in the building; no exemptions.
- No passes will be accepted.
- Advance ticket sales only — Tickets will be sold/pre-paid at the home and visiting schools. Tickets cannot be purchased on-site; any fan not on the spectator list will be refused entrance to the venue.
- Spectator seating is located opposite the team benches. The section opposite the team benches is divided in half. Spectators should sit across from their team or in the end bleachers on their half. Bleachers have 6-foot social distancing stickers. Please utilize these stickers to choose your seat safely.
- Doors will open 35 minutes prior to game time.
- Concessions are not available.
- Restrooms are available outside the gym in the front foyer at Door 1B. Use the ticket sale entrance at Door 2 to exit and enter for restroom use.
